CASE STUDY
pink for a cause: supporting breast cancer awareness at the San Foundation

Each October, The Sydney Adventist Hospital (affectionately known as ‘The San’) transforms into a sea of pink, bringing the hospital community together to recognise Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Behind this initiative is The San Foundation, whose vision unites staff, patients and families in supporting those affected by breast cancer.

At Uniformity, we’re proud to partner with The San Foundation to bring this initiative to life through a purpose-driven uniform program. For the past two years, we’ve worked with The San Foundation to transform pink uniforms into more than just clothing – to turn them into a way for staff to visibly connect with a cause that touches the lives of so many within the hospital community.

Working with Uniformity has been seamless. They were able to secure the pink polos and scrubs that everyone loves, and the quality and service have been excellent.

the brief

The idea for The San Foundation’s Breast Cancer Awareness initiative grew from a simple concept – to provide pink garments for staff, endorsed by the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, as a practical way to engage people and start meaningful conversations about the cause.

our uniform solution

Uniformity provided a range of pink scrub tops and polo shirts endorsed by the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. Each garment carried the BCA logo and ribbon – a small but powerful reminder of the cause behind the initiative.

The garments were carefully sourced to meet hospital standards for comfort, quality and practicality, ensuring staff could wear them proudly throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Through our supplier partnership, a portion of every sale was donated to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, and Uniformity also subsidised the garment cost to make participation more affordable for The San staff and volunteers.

our process

We worked closely with The San Foundation team to coordinate the program, managing the online ordering portal, tracking and delivery to ensure a seamless rollout in time for October.

Staff could self-purchase pink scrub tops or polo shirts, while new nurses received a donated scrub top from The San Foundation, making it easier for as many staff as possible to take part in the initiative.

the results

The program achieved outstanding participation levels with staff ordering more than 370 pink garments in total. Uniformity’s subsidised pricing and logistics management helped make the initiative more accessible and successful.

The pink range transformed hallways and wards into a vibrant display of solidarity, allowing every staff member to play a part in raising awareness. The hospital also hosted a special ceremony featuring a breast cancer surgeon to reinforce the importance of awareness and early detection.

Ultimately, the initiative’s impact continues beyond October, with many nurses choosing to wear their pink scrubs for “Fun Scrub Friday” – keeping the message alive all year round.

Uniformity is proud to play a part in helping The San Foundation turn awareness into meaningful action – one pink uniform at a time. It’s a great reminder that even small actions, like choosing pink, can bring a community together in support of something bigger than us all.

Uniformity have been fantastic collaborators, and we hope to keep growing with them. Having a trusted partner like that just makes everything easier.
